The analysis of exemplary elements of the old casting moulds is included, as well as the Bronze Age casts. The chemical content of various copper alloys was determined and the application of lost wax method was confirmed in the Bronze Age workshop. At present, investment casting method is used for manufacturing high-quality casts, especially products for power engineering that is why it demands respecting very rigorous technological requirements. The casts were characterised based on microstructure research, chemical composition and conductivity in relation to oxygen content.

Dental casting of superelastic Ni-Ti alloy.
Rods of Ni-43.5wt% Ti alloy were prepared under various casting conditions. Specimens which were melted in a cordierite crucible and cast in a phosphate-bonded investment mold had less strength and elongation than those melted in a copper crucible and cast in a phosphate-bonded investment mold. All castings exhibited superelasticity at room temperature. The upper limit of recoverable strain was...
متن کاملOptimization of the chemical milling of investment cast titanium alloys
Investment casting is a popular casting technique for manufacturing of several titanium alloy components dedicated to different industrial applications, as aerospace and automotive. This manufacturing process could be an economic net-shape technology, since the investment casting allows obtaining complex shapes, accurate geometries and reduced thicknesses. However, the reactions between titaniu...
متن کاملPlatinum Investment Casting , Part II : Alloy
Two widely used jewellery investment casting alloys (platinum with 5 wt% ruthenium (Pt-5Ru) and platinum with 5 wt% cobalt (Pt-5Co)) suffer from poor castability and other drawbacks. In this work thermodynamic calculations of alloy properties were employed to optimise the alloy compositions. Segregation behaviour appeared to be important for the melting range. Scheil simulations were used to si...
متن کاملModeling of TiAl Alloy Grating by Investment Casting
The investment casting of TiAl alloys has become the most promising cost-effective technique for manufacturing TiAl components. This study aimed to investigate a series of problems associated with the investment casting of TiAl alloys. The mold filling and solidification of this casting model were numerically simulated using ProCAST. Shrinkage porosity was quantitatively predicted by a built-in...
متن کاملA New Manufacturing Technology for Induction Machine Copper Rotors
The benefits of energy and operational cost savings from using copper rotors are well recognized. The main barrier to die casting copper rotors is short mold life. This paper introduces a new approach for manufacturing copperbar rotors. Either copper, aluminum, or their alloys can be used for the end rings. Both solid-core and laminated-core rotors were built. High quality joints of aluminum to...
